Chicken In Homemade Sweet & Sour Sauce

Yields: 4 Servings Difficulty: Easy Prep Time: 20 Mins Cook Time: 20 Mins Total Time: 40 Mins

Let me present you my delicious version of a Chinese dish. This recipe includes a homemade version of the popular, Chinese sweet and sour sauce. It has the same flavor (even better), and it DOESN’T contain soy, sugar, and ketchup. With only a handful of ingredients and 5 minutes of your time, this sweet and sour sauce beats any store bought or take out you can find. Try this recipe and prepare your main meal for the weekend. It tastes perfectly with wedges potato or yellow rice as a side dish.

    Meat
  • Chop the chicken into medium-sized pieces, season with salt and black pepper and fry in a pan with heated olive oil after previously smearing them with wholemeal flour.
  • Fry each piece for 3-4 minutes, on each side.
  • Sweet & Sour Sauce
  • Put quite a little olive oil in another pan and fry the chopped garlic over medium heat.
  • Reduce the cooking temperature, then add a tablespoon of vinegar and stir. Then add a tablespoon of honey and stir again. Repeat the procedure with the rest of the vinegar and honey. You can also add a little dried spice for better taste (basil, parsley or oregano) and thus the sauce is ready.
  • Put the prepared pieces of chicken meat in the sauce for a few seconds on both sides so that it sticks nicely to them, then put them in a bowl one by one. Finally, when you have ordered them all, pour the rest of the sauce over them. Suggested addition to this delicious dish, potato wedges or yellow rice (search the recipes or these side dishes on the site).
