You might think fast Chinese food when you hear the word “wok,” and you’re not totally off base. The wok is where you make stir-fries with many flavors (the heat is kept on high for faster cooking). Today, I am bringing right into your kitchen the healthiest version of the popular Chinese takeout. While whipping up an easy stir-fry on a busy weeknight is a lifesaver, there’s so much more the trusty wok can do for your meals. If you do not possess a wok frying pan (semi-rounded pan for better and faster cooking), do it with a regular pan. But! Do not forget to get yourself one.

  • Cut the meat into cubes and season with salt and black pepper. Chop the vegetables and cut the carrots into strips lengthwise with a peeler or, if you do not have a peeler, then grate them.
  • In a wok pan (or plain if you don't have wok), heat the olive oil, then simmer the meat for 15 minutes over moderately low heat.
  • Add the mushrooms and fry for another 5 minutes. Add the remaining vegetables and sesame seeds, then fry until the vegetables are soft (10 minutes).
  • Add teriyaki sauce, simmer for another 2 minutes and serve. This dish does not need to be served with a side dish, although the Chinese serve it with rice or noodles. Enjoy!
